Jean Marie Tarascon is currently a professor at the College de France, a member of the French Academy of Sciences and a member of the Royal Society of chemistry. At present, he has published more than 630 academic papers and has 80 patents. He graduated from Cornell University in 1980, and received his Ph.D. in solid state chemistry from the University of Bordeaux in France. After graduation, he joined Bell Laboratories in the United States.
Jean Marie Tarascon is the originator of polymer lithium-ion battery. He pioneered the application of flexible packaging in lithium battery, which makes polymer lithium-ion battery become the mainstream battery product. In the early 1990s, a research team led by Jean Marie Tarascon developed an electrolyte for high potential cathode materials, thus creating the Bellcore technology characterized by aluminum foil packed lithium manganate battery. He creatively introduced EC as the solvent of electrolyte, so that graphite can be used as the anode of lithium-ion battery. He took the lead in successfully developing PEO based solid-state polymer electrolyte, which is also the most widely used electrolyte for all solid-state batteries. Jean Marie Tarascon has also made great achievements in the development of new cathode materials. He was the first to synthesize LiMn2O4 cathode material with spinel structure. Through the precise control of oxygen atmosphere in the synthesis conditions, the lithium rich oxygen rich lithium manganate cathode material was developed for the first time, which can greatly improve the specific capacity of the battery material.
On the fourth day of the summit, the international lecture hall of energy science and technology will be given by Jeff Dahn, JM. Tarascon, Zhengming Zhang, Masaki Yoshio and Steven visco, five lithium battery personnel, to give exclusive face-to-face lectures on the latest key technology progress, and further discuss the three major topics of the summit.
